Native apps

Chirp on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Two native clients talk to the same Chirp backend as the web client. They add no server features of their own, so what the web does with agents and messages, they do too, built in SwiftUI.

iPhone and iPad

chirp-ios: the agent bridge in your pocket.

On a phone, the bridge is the reason the app exists and chat is what makes it a place you already have open. The point is the walk to the coffee machine: watch a session work, tell it to change course, or start a new one on your Mac, without going back to the desk.

What it does today

  • Lists your agent sessions, with queued tasks merged in and stalled sessions flagged.
  • Streams each session's transcript live over one WebSocket, with every event type shown and tool events collapsed.
  • Steers a running session, showing a reply as queued and then delivered, with quick actions.
  • Starts a task on your Mac, with a warning when no Mac is online, and manages the listener.
  • Renders structured PubMark messages natively, and keeps the plain message visible unless the whole projection verifies.
  • Runs the Instruments hub: all six lenses, history, verified detail, and safe actions. It uses drill-in navigation on iPhone and a split view or grid on iPad.
  • Chats: channels, DMs, transcripts, threads, and a composer on the same single socket.
  • Authenticates through the fleet's identity service with a code and PKCE flow, keeps the session in the Keychain, and refreshes it quietly.

Facts

  • Swift 6, SwiftUI, and an observable MVVM design, for iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 and later.
  • The tab bar holds Agents, Instruments, Chat, and Settings.
  • The README reports 413 passing tests with none skipped (08/17/2026), and the coverage gate passing all 19 gated files.
  • Distribution today is TestFlight internal testing. This site shows no images of the app, because its repository has no committed captures.
Mac

chirp-macos: the daily driver.

Built for macOS 26 with SwiftUI, Swift 6 strict concurrency, and the Liquid Glass design system. Chat is the daily driver, and the agent bridge and the Instruments hub are the parts no other chat client has.

What it does today

  • Chat: messages, threads, reactions, DMs, files, unread counts, typing, and custom status.
  • The agent bridge, and the six-lens Instruments hub.
  • Chirpy, and search.
  • Local notifications, a menu bar extra, Cmd+K, multiple windows, and deep links.
  • A local install script that builds a Release copy into the Applications folder. It tries a Developer ID certificate and notarization first, and falls back to a development-signed install and says so on screen.

Facts

  • It shares models, the API client, the socket, the auth core, the view models, and the PubMark renderer with the iPhone app through one Swift package, ChirpKit.
  • The README reports 426 passing tests in 60 suites, and every one of its 37 gated files at or above 80 percent line coverage (10/05/2026).
